Tooth contouring, or reshaping, is a procedure to correct misshapen teeth, crooked teeth, chipped teeth, and even overlapping teeth.  The procedure can be done in one office visit and have dramatic results.  The dentist will look at the proportion of your teeth, the shape of your mouth, x-rays, and other factors when deciding how to shape your smile.  Dr. Jalali will then sculpt and contour the teeth to create a beautiful smile.

Crowns and bridges are used to strengthen damaged teeth, improve the appearance of teeth and shape or align a smile.  A crown is used to repair an individual tooth, a bridge is used to repair and replace multiple teeth.  Both are fixed prosthetics and are a permanent replacement.

Crowns are used to completely cover or cap a tooth. A crown can also be placed on top of an implant to give a tooth like shape and function.  Crowns of porcelain or ceramic can be matched to the color of your teeth to maintain a natural appearance.  Once a crown is placed in the mouth it will function like a natural tooth.  A dentist may suggest using a crown if a tooth is fractured, has had a root canal treatment or a tooth is misshapen or discolored.

Bridges may be recommended if you are missing one or more teeth.  They span the space where the teeth are missing.  A bridge is cemented to the natural teeth or implants on either side of the missing tooth. These teeth act as anchors for the bridge.  A pontic, which is the replacement tooth, is attached to the crowns that cover the anchors.    

Onlays and Inlays are a more conservative approach to restoring a normal tooth structure after decay or other damage  They are referred to as an indirect filling because unlike a standard filling that is done in the office, both are made in a laboratory and then cemented or bonded to the surface of a tooth during a second dental visit.  Onlays and Inlays also strengthen the structure of the tooth and provide the tooth with more chewing force.
